Course Description:
The Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce is for learners who wish to work in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce. This qualification will be the only Level 2 QCF qualification that will confer occupational competence for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce. This course is for those with little or no experience in working with children, and is a stepping stone that will allow you to progress onto a Level 3 child care qualification.
Entry Requirements:
This course is appropriate for people working under supervision in a childcare setting. You will need to be employed or a volunteer working with children between the ages of 0 to 19. You must be over 16 years of age.
Who are they for?
You'll need to be working or volunteering in a child care role ‐ but other than that, these qualifications are suitable for anyone starting their first child care job or already managing a child care centre.

How you will be assessed?
You will complete assessment tasks and your skills will be directly observed in the workplace by an appointed qualified childcare assessor. You will also need to build up a portfolio of evidence.
Where it can take you?
This award will give you a qualification suitable for a position as an assistant in a playgroup, children’s centre or day nursery. This course will also provide the opportunity to progress onto the level 3 Diploma for the Children’s and Young People’s workforce and to become a fully trained practitioner at Level 3.
